A couple of months ago I picked up a used 40D as an upgrade from my XTi, mainly because I'm doing more action photography these days and wanted the better AF performance.

Yesterday I shot a dog frisbee competition, and my keeper rate tripled compared to my last attempt with the XTi. So I'm very happy! The 40D is a great camera.

Nice! I love my 40D for action events too :)

Nice images - I saw a few of a dog competition where the photog laid on the ground to shoot up at the dogs - you might want to try it sometime. Just be sure to be careful where you lay down! Avoid doggie land mines...

It's a good idea. The background was very challenging: there were tents and RVs all around the ring, about 10 feet back from the white plastic fence. I was considering standing on something next time, so as to be able to use the grass as a background, but maybe shooting up would work too.
