I'm glad I bought my lenses when I did, because there's no way I could pay the prices now. I got my 17-40L for $600 from Amazon at the beginning of January. It's at $750 or so on Amazon right now. That is well outside of my price zone. Canon 5D classic/Canon 85 1.8/17-40L/Siggy 50 f/1.4 ex/430ex speedlite/and some books

I could sell my 17-40L for what I paid if there was none available at a particular time on the boards. I sold my 24-70L for more than what I paid, because the used market felt it was worth more than what I paid. If it had a hood I could have easily sold it for $1k. It didn't have a hood, so I didn't sell it for that much. I definitely made enough money to fly out of town and buy the Sigma 50 1.4. I didn't use the 24-70 much at all. But after reading some reviews on POTN, the lens flare and CA issues really worry me. Sony A7C, Sony A6000, 5D Mark II, 40D, 350d

They did this to reduce if not eliminate existing inventories. I am hoping that in a few months prices will come down again. Right now supply and demand is directly affecting the market. I am hoping to see better prices on Blackfriday
