I was just wondering if Canon will continue to make the non IS version of this lens, or if I should scrape together the money to buy it now?
The 2.8 is the one I'm wondering about.

Both are still listed on their website and are available at this time at B&H (and other sites, I'm sure). I haven't seen anything from Canon saying that either of these very popular lenses have been discontinued. Unless you see an official announcement, I think it's safe to assume that they are still in production. It wouldn't make sense to have their lowest price point in that focal length range be $1600.

Also I know a few guys that have the IS version and say they never use it, they shoot Motocross. Guess I just depends if your gonna be using it indoors alot. Personally I think it would be cool to use it for blur panning shots, but other than that I would never use it. 7D ......waiting on the 5D3
