I was just wondering if Canon will continue to make the non IS version of this lens, or if I should scrape together the money to buy it now?
The 2.8 is the one I'm wondering about.

I think Canon stopped making them some time ago.
The one's on sale as new are just unsold stock.
I couldn't quite afford to buy one, so I got the Sigma instead.

Canon makes two different non-IS 70-200 zooms, the 70-200/4L and 70-200/2.8L. Both are still listed on their website and are available at this time at B&H (and other sites, I'm sure). I haven't seen anything from Canon saying that either of these very popular lenses have been discontinued. Unless you see an official announcement, I think it's safe to assume that they are still in production. It wouldn't make sense to have their lowest price point in that focal length range be $1600.

I have the non IS and love it. Also I know a few guys that have the IS version and say they never use it, they shoot Motocross. Guess I just depends if your gonna be using it indoors alot. Personally I think it would be cool to use it for blur panning shots, but other than that I would never use it.
