Hi everyone i am once again confused.

I am about to purchase a pair of pocket wizzard plusII's. Before i do can anyone tell me what lead i need to connect from my 580 to the pocket wizzard to fire remotely when mounted to a monopod.
I have seen that there are two ports on the side of my 580 ex and have no idea what lead connects to the pocket wizard.
I have done a quick search on here but cant find an answer to this, probably because its such a basic question.
Also do i need a different lead to remote fire the camera using the pocket wizard as a wireless shutter release.
If someone could provide a link to a website that stocks such items i would be grateful.
One last thing, i have the older 580ex version- not sure if this matters.
Many thanks,
Andrew.

Thanks, is there any way of not having to use one of those- dont they limit the capability of your flash? Is there anyway of using the ports on the 580 ex?

There is no sync port on the original 580 so I am not sure what port you want to use. As for limiting the capacity of the flash, your decision to take the flash off camera did that. Unless you use the new Pocket Wizards and their short range or the Radio Poppers you lose the camera's control of the flash power.

Thanks for your reply, i am new to this element of photography and find it quite confusing- i apologise for the silly questions but i am most grateful for your help.
I take it the 580mark2 has a synch port built in?
Someone has already recommended flashzebra products- does anyone know of a uk supplier- would rather buy from UK should anything go wrong with the product.

Thanks again.

Andrew.

The 580EX II has a PC socket for off-camera sync. The original 580EX does not, which is why you need a hotshoe adapter.

I'm sure there are good suppliers in the UK that someone can recommend. Flashzebra also ships to the UK and stands behind his products, regardless where his customer lives.
