I've been shooting with my XTi for about 6 months now and am really enjoying it, especially since switching to the 18-55IS kit lens. One thing I find though is that no matter what the subject the images always have a cool look to them (i.e. bluish tinge) and I always find myself having to add a warming filter in PS in order for them to look more natural. FWIW, I usually leave the WB on auto. I've heard that leaving it set to cloudy will often make the images look warmer.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is it normally an issue with the lens or the body?

You're going to need to change your white balance. Do you shoot RAW or JPEG. You definitely need to try harder nailing your WB if you're shooting with light coming in through a window and you have an overhead light on. You have a mixture of light temperatures entering the same subject. You will either need to shoot RAW and have the ability to change your WB, or shoot JPEG and really work on nailing it.

Thanks weezerfan84.

I shoot JPEG. Anytime I do shoot in RAW I'm impressed by how much better things look but for some reason always revert back to JPEG. As for getting the WB correct do you suggest changing the in camera mode depending on the light at the time? Or playing with the exposures until the histogram is better distributed?

The 18-55 IS has been said to be a "cooler" lens.

as for white balance, if you aren't shooting raw, then you should be adjusting white balance to the conditions. Especially indoors under man-made lighting.

Yes, I've been using AWB. I think for now I'll try to remember to adjust to cloudy, shade, etc depending on my light and to pay more attention to the histograms.

If you shoot RAW, you can adjust the white balance easily with Adobe Photoshop, DPP, or Lightroom, etc. I like shooting in Auto and checking the white balance during RAW processing.

Shoot RAW and adjust the WB during post processing. If you aren't totally comfortable shooing just RAW shoot RAW+JPEG. One of the many benefits of shooting in RAW would be the ability to adjust the WB with ease.

My guess: Your monitor is not calibrated. Most of the color issues I've had to personally deal with are due to that.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
