Anyone here know anything about this book (external link)? As a Canon shooter, I was turned off by the Nikon infomercial that was the "Hot Shoe Diaries," so this looks like it might be a good alternative that is Canon specific.

I don't think the book is out yet, it says release date is October 2009.

Thanks for posting that. I've saved the book in my Amazon "Wish List". I don't know that you'll be able to find out much about it though as it is not yet released. Perhaps some here are familiar with the author however.

Yeah, I was aware of the release date but some folks seemed to have a bit of information about HSD before it was released.

It's about time that NK Guy is turning his Photonotes.org articles into a book. I'd much rather read a book than a web pages...

I agree that the hot shoe diaries talks way too much about nikon equipment, but I still picked up a lot of good information in the book, I still recommend it to my friends who shoot canon.

I've read through half the book so far. While there is a good bit of Nikon coverage, most of what I am getting out of the book is technique as to how a scene should be lit. Lets keep this thread updated for anyone that pics up the book.

Bought it last night, had a 40% off coupon at Boarders so why not.. It is pretty comprehensive coverage. Including 3rd party accessories. It will go on the "newbie must read" list without reservation.

Go to Amazon.com if anyone would like to take a look at the book's "Table of Contents" to see what's being covered. It looks to be quite a detailed book to benefit both the beginner level and the advanced alike. It's over 400 pages!

I ordered the book on Friday and received it on Monday, not bad for free shipping. I think the physical quality of the book is very nice. Like most books I buy, I already know some of the content. I'm sure there is more than enough new information in this book to justify my purchase. Plus I'll have a nice reference book.

Mine just arrived. It looks fairly basic but at the same time pretty comprehensive with those basics (if that makes sense).

If you're like me and spend too much time here; there is likely not a lot of new ground covered. Not to say it isn't a good book. You might say it is like an organized and comprehensive list of many of the topics addressed here on the forum.

I'll enjoy reading it I'm sure. Definitely a good resource for those newly exposed to flash and OCF.

Have you considered the Apple iPAD to read books/documents online ? - a much easier gadget to whizz through web pages than a cumbersome laptop/PC. ;)
