I have my new monitor set up with my macbook, but have a question. Can I close my laptop and have it function strictly as a computer, or do I have to leave it open? Every time I close it the computer goes to sleep.

Windows laptops don't do this..... Is there something I am missing?

There is no setting.

Heres what I figured out.

Set up monitors to mirror.
Shut Macbook
Insert something into a USB port.

That wakes up the monitor and everything works

Strange..... open to cleaner ideas.....

Both OSX and Windows can do this. What OS are you running? You can change you setting under power management at Screen Saver.

You don't have to set it to mirror. After you setup your monitor (mirrored or whatever) then turn off the laptop. Hit the power then close the laptop. The monitor should kick on. Just remember to have an external keyboard and mouse :)
