OK, so my health sucks big time. The dr this week added a doosie of a drug to my list, it's basically used for chemotherapy, but I'm getting a lower dose. Between that drug and the others I'm feeling horrible. My disease is getting worse dispite the drugs and I'm having a very hard time with my photography right now. Most lenses are getting too heavy. I'm even trying to sell my 200 2.8 prime, which I love due to it's weight.

I'm having problems getting around with even one or two light lenses and the camera. Dowgrading to a rebel won't be enough. I'm not ready to downgrade to a p&s yet as my only camera. But i'm planning for that day soon. Maybe to a G10.

I've already had to cut so much stuff out of my life due to this. I don't want to have to ditch photography as well. I just don't know what to do?

Sorry to lay this out here. Not sure what I'm looking for? Advice? Guidance? Who knows? Maybe I just needed to get it off my chest.

Hang in there. It's still photography even with a G10. Wish the best for you.

Get it off your chest.. It's better than keeping it in. I don't really have an advice or guidance to give, but in the grander scheme, your health and recovery are way more important than photography and equipment is only one part of photography. You can still enjoy the activity irrespective of what camera you have. Keep in mind that it is the photographer responsible for the image captured.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Wow! I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I know there's not much any of us can say to ease your burden. So, I'll just offer to put you in my prayers for better health. As for your question about downgrading, I'm not sure you'll be happy with the images you produce with a P&S camera. I realize that your enthusiam level is probably pretty low as a result of feeling lousy all of the time but if photography is what you love then having it as an outlet to forget your burdens for even one moment makes it critical that you continue to endevor in it. I wish you the best if your fight with your disease and hope to read someday soon that your doing better and your passion for photography has helped in some small way to get through this.

Take care!

Thanks everyone. yeah it's pretty hard. But I'm struggling. I need help from my husband when I get down to take a shot. I can't get back up on my own. Walking is ok, if it's really slow, which allows me to stop and take photos. I have found that just taking my 28-105 is ok as long as it's the only lens. That way I can still take some photos even though they won't match my macro that I love. But the idea of having to lug it around this summer worries me a bit. I can't have a bag over my shoulder. I tried a waist pack again and can't do it. My darling husband is a sweetie and carries stuff for me a lot, but I don't want to have him start thinking he's a pack mule! :-)

The main thing that gets me is this is progressive. I could get worse then I feel now. But I try not to think of that happening.

For now I think I'll pony up and get the G10 to keep as a camera to take when I'm in pain, and keep the other stuff for my better days.

Any suggestions on handleing the G10 to get the best out of it?

Two years ago, I was in a hospital bed, full of catheters and IV's. I was fortunate enough to recover, thanks to good doctors and the prayers and good wishes of friends.

The bad times definitely teach you to enjoy the ordinary times and appreciate what you have.
