Wow, what the heck is that? :)

I kind of like overnight shipping. They hardly have time to mishandle the boxes in that little bit of time. ;)

I love overnight shipping, ordered at 2pm EST on tuesday and had it at 4pm AKST on Wed. That may not be super special in the lower 48, but to get it to Alaska that fast was pretty awesome in my book.

Oh, and that is an Eider from the Alaska SeaLife Center (my work). Don't ask me exactly what species he is, and i am to lazy to walk out on the floor an fight my way through all the cruise boat folks right now to find out. :)

That is not even fair!! "Just your casual duck shot" I will not even go into how hard it is even to be lucky enough to see one much less take a photo.

They did not give them the name "King" for nothing. Outside the Spectacled Eider those that do not know this is one of the most "rare" ducks that touches North America, and this is a very beautiful male!! You folks that live in Alaska, really have it made in many ways(most of the time) I so hope to take a trip up there to try and photograph the Eiders in the wild. (Only been so Lucky to shoot them off the coast of Maine in very late January, and only the common eiders, and several scoter species then)

Just an "ole dog" trying to learn "new tricks"! helpful advice is always welcome!!

I am lucky enough to work at a place that has these beautiful birds "in house". We also have spec Eiders as well, but they are in the research area and i don't get back there very often to take pics of them. the are truely a beautiful bird.

thank you all for taking the time to look and comment.

Oh Wow, very cool! I'm semi-seriously considering moving to AK. I'll be visiting Sitka in a week for my son's graduation from Trooper Training and he will be stationed in Soldotna starting in July. If I knew I could find a job and could stand the "seasons" I'd do it in a flash.

Keep up the great photography.
