Hi,

I am sure I am overlooking something here but I cannot seem to find out how to set the 430EX up properly with my 50D.

When I go into the camera menu (with the flash attached) and select "flash control" then "External flash func. setting", all I can configure is the FEC and ETTL II mode. What I want to be able to set is the Shutter synch but it is greyed out. Also, when I select "External flash C.Fn setting", that tells me the flash is not switched on or is incompatible.

Any help appreciated.

I can control everything on my 430exII from the camera. I don't know about the 430ex.

On the 430ex thats all you can contol via camera menu. Have to get a 430exII or 580exII to control the rest from camera.
