My top 5 MX photographers are as follows.
#1 Feank Hoppen
#2 Joe Bonnello
#3 Paul Buckley
#4 Steve Bruhn
#5 Simon Cudby

I am sure there are people who will argue with my top 5 but these guys have been around the longest and they are still innovators in my circle of friends and that includes top shooters in the motorsports orld.

Simon Cudby. Steve Bruhn would be up there if he wasn't such a dick.

Cudby and Hoppen have been around forever, the rest are relative newcomers, But they do some great work.

+1 on that.

I look forward to see Hoppen and Cudby's work from each event. When Bruhn was shooting, if you saw one of his shots you have seen them all. No variety or originality.

I also like Steve Cox, Brendan Lutes, Tony Scavo who shoot for Racer X, Transworld. There are several that post here and over at FM that are great also. Emile Cooper has shots that are out of this world. Aaron Remkus from Texas has great work. Brian's (byrno74) work is also outstanding.

I agree on the Bruhn comment. That guy had more attitude than skill. He once told me I had no chance of ever shooting a Supercross from floor.
This year alone I shot 11 from the floor. :)

WOW he sounds nice!

Hoppen on the other hand is super cool. I was shooting the Pismo Dunes Memorial race for Jerome like 3 years ago and trying to figure out where to be. I found this spot with 2 berms and an uphill jump to shoot from. My wife was across the way with a wider lens on. I see this Razor come up and this guy steps over the tape. I have no clue who he is and am thinking its some drunk/surfer valley rat type.

He has a camera couldnt tell what kind he is like 100 feet or so from me. He starts talking with my wife and I'm like sweet beat it dude. Turns out he is asking her how tha light was from there and what her shots are looking like. He gives her some advice and then his "assistant" rolls out the 500 F4 that was wrapped up.

Classic just a regular dude giving and asking advice of a nobody. I would gladly help him out anytime!

Hoppen is a class act. Much, much different than Bruhn. My first Pro race was the U.S. Open of Supercross in Las Vegas a few years ago. I shot the Pro nights from the stands but shot the Amateur day from the floor. Where ever I went he followed me. I would shoot the podium shots for the riders that were in my area and he would intentionally stand in front of me. There wasn't a wide enough lens to shoot around him, if you know what I mean. He treated me like a nobody which says a ton about his character.

Sorry for the rant, back on subject. I think the key to shooting any motocross related shots is to have the photo mean something. It should tell a story without any text included. Blur on the wheels vs. no blur, that isn't a big deal in my book. I want a photo that is different, that stands out, that shows speed, ability, etc.

Well folks, I'm a little late to this discussion, But I am going to have to throw a wildcard into this, and say that Nate Christenson is the best. Not only is he the best at Motocross, but at action sports in general. He is also just a great all around guy.

His work can be seen Here: http://www.natechristenson.com/ (external link)

Can't even believe Bruhn's name was thrown out, his work was awful.

Cudby is the best out there, no question.
Hoppen is good, Garth Milan.

Old thread here haha.

Cudby by leaps and bounds. Ultra Clean and proper. Look at the companies that pay him to shoot there products and realize most of those sick ads you see, more than likely are from his imagination. Not to mention his race pictures are always flawless. Next has to be Garth Milan, another super creative person with flawless pictures.
