I wish it didn't necessitate the use of a computer. The need for the camera to be tethered makes this less compelling.

Wow... I was posting when this got moved and my comment got nuked... hehe

Anyways, I just bought this. I think it's supposed to go up to over $20 soon... I plan on using this in my home studio and in the field for intervalometer work - sweet time-lapse tool!

Bought the Pro App for the iPhone, downloaded the server software, tethered my MkIII via USB and No Joy...

Keep getting an exception error when I go to launch the server software on my laptop.

Says reinstalling the application may fix the problem but it doesn't. Guess I'll lurk and see if anyone else finds a fix.

No, I posted the news YOU CAN USE!!!

Does this mean that all "24-70 or 24-105" threads will be combined as well? :)

Well, since my new camera is in the shop, I tried this with my old 300d which is not listed as supported, but eh...

The app launches, sees my camera, and shows all the settings, wb, shutter speed, etc...

However, trying to change anything, say the shutter speed, iso, whatever.. does not work with this camera. I click fire.. and it doesn't fire. I focus the camera again, and immediately click fire, and it fired! However, no image shows up on the phone and there is a 0kb file saved to the laptop. So, on this unsupported camera, it appears to be a no-go - although that's not surprising, just thought I'd try it, since I don't know when I'll get my real camera back.

However, this thing looks extremely cool and I'm excited about it.

I just came back from trying it out. In short while it's nice to control shutter/aperture/iso from the phone this means little if you can't reliability fire it every time. And it's not me missing the button. I would hit the button and it would be red and only after a few seconds would it take the photo.

I'm hoping they look into this and adding the ability to do AF as well.

Link to my quick review on the app (external link)

Photo attached was taken with the app. (30+ tries because it would not fire correctly)

Here is a screen shot of how the app looks after you take a photo. It actually displays it for you and you can flick to review other photos it has taken.

Really neat. Thank you for the review.

Am I missing something? While it seems very cool, you can do this freely by using VNC from the iphone.
That said, I am of course gonna buy it.
Can't wait to test it out!

This thread reminds me of the T shirt showing a can of Heineken's that says, "Is there anything beer can't do?!" Then it listed about 30 things, such as "It can start a fight. It can end a fight," etc.

First, I guess I should want an iphone. Which I don't.

Tried it again this evening and so long as I'm standing still it will fire great. In this setup I created a ad-hoc network and was about 50 feet away.

Any PC user can do the same thing using any hand held PC such as a Nokia N8x0/N770 series if you run VNC Server (free open source software) on the host PC then run a VNC Client (free open source software) on the pocket device. I can even do it using my ca 1995 Sony Clie nx73v using the same software.

It is cool that someone finally, after several years, has gotten around to doing this for an IpHonE, for a price of course.
