After shooting for only around 2 or 3 months and really enjoying it, I found my interest in low light photography but not feeling it appropriate to use a prime as like the standard focal length.

I have been eyeing up the Tamron 17-50 2.8 for a little while now, and thought it would offer a noticeable improvement over my kit lens. Eventually one cropped up on ebay with an hour left and I managed to get it for a little over £160! To say I am chuffed is an understatement, after receiving it today it looks and feels very solid, and the colours and sharpness are a huge step up!

Just wanted to say how chuffed I am, and will be taking this bad boy out in a few days for some real trial shots!

Never heard the term "chuffed" before. In context, I can only assume it means satisfied. So if that is the case, then I am happy for you. Many people seem to like the 17-50.

Yes its a very British phrase or at least from round my common parts! Well I feel it is a step in the right direction for me as I can already see improvements.

i have the same combo 1000d and 17-50f/ 2.8. It almost never leaves my camera. At times i put my telephoto on but mostly the tamron.
Fun lens for sure.

Nice pick up, part of the growth in the hobby/profession is the investment in good gear. Skill/experience + gear = great pictures.

Thanks, I think I am getting there, still so much to learn, I think my next focus is to really work on my composition!
