Hey guys,
So I'm a little stumped as how to configure my 5DmkII to do spot metering, I know it can be enabled but I can't for the life of me figure it out!
Can anybody help me out with this?
Thanks!
Tim

Maybe you'd be better with a P&S camera!

A little harsh, maybe, but it always pays to read the manual first.

A little harsh, but welcome to POTN. It's always better to ask a question the answer to which someone else thinks is obious, than not to have the answer.
These fora are tremendous sources of information, don't be put off.

Two ways:

- Four buttons over the top LCD screen, push the first button Metering symbol-WB, rotate the wheel above the shutter button between the metering options, the one with the single dot in the middle is Spot.

- Press the multi-selector joystick, up pops the settings screen, joystick to third line, far right metering symbol and just spin the big wheel to make your selection, Spot being the single dot. It will even tell you in plain language at the bottom what you have selected.

...that wasn't too difficult to explain. :p

Yes, I agree with that. But didn't we all consult the manual?

I actually read the manual online before I got the camera. But that was in December, while I was nailbiting and waiting to see which would come first, the camera or my departure from JFK on vacation.

I don't know how it is with other cameras in the line, but the Mark II manual is extraordinarily clear on how the camera operates.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but remember:

"Education which is obtained thru instruction is cheap and worthless,
that which is comes from experience and discovery is priceless." (the village idiot)

I may not be the village idiot, but I'll do until
he gets here.
