This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera. As an option, a high resolution file may be made available for editing as LINK ONLY, and your final submission to the contest may not exceed 1024 pixels on the long side.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #189".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This round will end Wed May 27th 12:00 Noon EST USA.

I don't have very many photos on here so here's one from yesterday morning

I had no idea what to do with this one because it was just beautiful the way it was ... so I decided it needed a horse, a frame and a sold sign!

Dodged and burned
Adjusted contrast just a little
Added horse
Added drop frame
Slightly adjusted color
Added sold sign, mat, and frame

Who doesn’t love a corn-ball motivational poster!

The moment I saw those rocks (posts) whatever they are, I knew I had do a tribute to one of my favorite movies.

  • Pasted Daniel in, lassoed away the junk – slight blur, changed colors.
  • Added Daniel’s shadow, distort, low opacity – then erased away portions of the shadow.
  • Mr. Miyagi added, lassoed, scaled, flipped, cropped.
  • Changed the levels on the original, curves, saturation and hue.
  • Quote added, drop shadow.
  • It was fun :)

On this laptop yes - just a few from last weekend.

Ok I really loath picking a winner out of this bunch

Lore - what a neat idea and well executed, you always come up with something unique that I just would never think about doing.

Spidy - I love the addition of the horse silhouette really makes a difference to the photo

brennasg - now this is different but I like it a lot, completely different feel to the photo now (not a bad thing)!

Silver -- excellent job on trying to remove the weird color cast, I was also struggling on what to do with the rocks and that high pass filter does the job very well.

NigelD - very nice clean edit - color change works well.

mercersmoments - very nice as well and good job and trying to get the colors correct, and that a great job with the dodging and burning!

kendoway - very cool edit Chris - and I'm always a sucker for a motivational poster!

Well I have to pick a winner and this one's going to Silver - not only a good edit but you helped me figure out how to fix something that was really bothering me with this shot!

Really great job everyone!
