Pansy

Roughly a centimetre of the area just to the right of the pistol of a pansy flower.

12 images focus-stacked with Zerene Stacker (beta).

Wikipedia wrote:
="Wikipedia"]The name pansy is derived from the French (external link) word pensée meaning "thought", and was so named because the flower resembles a human face; in August it nods forward as if deep in thought. Because of this the pansy has long been a symbol of Freethought (external link)[6] (external link) and has been used in the literature of the American Secular Union (external link). Humanists (external link) use it too, as the pansy's current appearance was developed from the Heartsease (external link) by two centuries of intentional crossbreeding (external link) of wild plant hybrids (external link).

Beautiful framing and exposure -- would make a lovely display print!

Thanks for posting the detail comparisons in the other forum (https://photography-on-the.net …hp?p=7977908&postcount=19)

Thanks for the comments! Much appreciated.

I do plan on printing this one out, looking forward to the results. I like the way the little "beard" hairs look close up, maybe I'll try framing them closer at a higher magnification next time.

I just love the colours in this shot - if you didn't know differently, you could think this was from the side of some sort of marine animal.

Great shot.

Thanks Michelle! If it were underwater, I'd have to guess that it was some sort of Nudibranch, at least the 'spikey' part :)
