Just learning how to use Photomatix. I purposely went for the exaggerated HDR effect, so I know some won't find it their cup of tea. Too much haloing, I still need to work on that. It's actually a pseudo-HDR, using the original RAW and copies at -2 and +2 EV. C&C appreciated.

way too much halo is a nice way of saying this is way over done.. try again and ease off..

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I purposely over-processed it trying to get it to look surreal - somewhat like a painting/illustration (and still didn't quite get the desired effect). I need a lot more work with the software to learn how to avoid the halos.

control the haloing and u will get the surreal look u want

from my experience i would never use the esposures -2 to 0 to 2

i would however take 3 pictures at those 3 exposures and split it into 9 exposures from those 3. most, if not all of your halos will be gone and the remainder is very easy to get rid of
