OK... I did something REALLY dumb and accidentally deleted a TON of photos. (No worries, restored from my offline backup pretty quickly.)

But now I want to MAKE SURE LR doesn't still think any photos are missing:

So I went in through windows explorer, and renamed a few photos in my collection just to make sure a FEW definately come up as missing, and they do have the question mark icon next to them as expected.

My QUESTION is, how can I get LR to list out (or make a smart collection) of pictures it thinks are missing without scrolling through and looking for those question marks? I thought LR 1 popped up "Missing images" item under Catalog, but not seeing it here.

I think you can right-click on the folder listing on the left side panel and choose "synchronize" which will bring up a dialog box

In the Library module, at the top left corner in the Library panel, where it lists All Photographs, Quick Collection, etc, does Missing Files show you the information?

No... that's what I thought was odd... I'm not seeing anything that says "Missing Files" like I expected.

I guess this worked the best... but not great. It wants to also import, sync metadata, etc at the same time... also gives the impression that it will remove any missing photos (although it DOES let you review them.)

I'd really appreciate if the folks at Adobe could SERIOUSLY take a look at their other products like Elements that already have a simple button to do things like this.

I saw a free plug-in somewhere that would show you which photos were missing. Try googling free lightroom plug-ins, that's how I found it
