I took this shot in the evening just as the sun was going down. Got lucky with the sun hitting the bird! Taken with a 40D 100-400@350mm, ISO 1000, 5.6@8000sec. Taken at the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge near Sequim Wa.

Wonderful capture, the light is ideal. Impressed at the lack of noise at ISO 1000.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I have been trying to get a good shot of a Harrier
for a couple of weeks and finally got one I am happy with.

As far as the noise I selected the background and used Noiseware to delete it. There was a fair amount.
