I received "The Call" from RogersCamera today. Yes, it was a scam. The guy first tried to sell me a battery for around $200. I told him I didn't need it. He said "how are you going to use a camera without a battery?"

Then he said what I bought was a wholesale package and that the camera was in a plastic frame. If I wanted a magnesium frame for that price, he could sell me another camera with 15 megapixels, and that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I told him to cancel the order which he supposedly did.

Wow! What a scam. Live and learn, I guess. Thanks everyone for the alert. At least I wasn't taken off-guard when he called.

Oh wow, I didn't know that for a Safari I should take a 16-35L and a 70-300 DO instead of a 24-105 and 100-400! Man, I could have made a huge mistake on my next trip to Africa!

A lot of folks might argue against the 100-400 and say to rent like a 500 f/4 or something..

But still the 70-300 DO isnt recommended often...

Well yea, a 500L would make sense. a 70-300 DO wouldn't really make sense.
