I like the idea, I've never seen one of these in person before. Seems like an interesting tree. To me, it could be sharper so the individual flowers were more distinct. Also, the telephone pole in the back is a little distracting as is the bench in the bottom left.

I've never done an HDR, nor any photoshop for that matter, so I don't know how easy/hard it is to do these things. Keep taking photos and playing with HDR. :-)

I DO love the colors in the second version. The greens just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and the red/orange flowers give a good balance.

There is really too much saturation in #2, the orange colors seem to be glowing and the green is just too much. It needs more contrast, there aren't enough shadow contrasts in #2.

No 1 is the better one for me. In No 2, the reds in particular have lost their definition.

In my opinion, they both need a little more work. In #1 you're clouds are grey, when they look like they should be white, and #2 it's way over-saturated. Though all in all these shots don't need HDR treatment, this scene could easily be captured in a single frame

I'd also either photoshop the power lines out, or recompose the scene so they're not in the shot

I think you would have better luck with just adjust the Highlights and Shadows than doing an HDR on these since the detail has been drowned out by the over saturation of the images. But I think w/ a bit more tweaking it could turn out to be a great photo

The red's are still over saturated IMO. Maybe post the original to show us what you're working with

No offense, Mark, but I'd suggest you shoot the tree again (trying to avoid the transformer and power line background), then work it old-school. I think this is a very cool tree and would frankly like to see it with good comp and single-image processing rather than jacked up in Photomatix. But, again, that's just my two cents and I mean no offense.

This is why you should have a license to practice HDR.
