Lately I've been noticing pigeons. I've been watching them closely, and I've realized they lead a sad depressing life. I feel bad for them, they seem so sad. I don't blame them, most people shoo them away like flies, but they don't realize the deep trauma they are causing to these little guys.
This poor bird finds its only source of water from a dirty drain next to a rustic gas pump leaking unleaded gas. I think there was also a heroin needle sitting a few feet away.

This bird, which may possibly be the same depressing pigeon, was in the middle of contemplating suicide off the Newport Beach Pier today. I slowly walked up to it, threw it a few crumbs of my left-over club sandwhich and talked him through his troubled times. I knew he was listening becuase he would do that head cocking thing that they do when they are trying hard to listen to what you have to say. Soon after her flew away. I'm glad I could have a positive impact on his life.

These aren't the only sad occurances I've seen lately. I recently saw a pigeon being wacked by an old lady with her Prada purse as he was trying to sit on her shoulder. How rude. Kids like to torture them too.
Just keep in mind, pigeons have it rough--be kind, feed them your sandwhich.
