I ordered 2408 last week. It was $479 with 10% coupon. Total before tax is $431. Price was good. I called Dell and place a order since I didn't have a personal computer access at that time. So everything was settled, or so I thought.

Today, package came in. I was so happy. When I opened the box, I see a different 24" LCD. After double check and package and invoice, the monitor is G2410, a $299 monitor. To make the price up to $431, Dell added a 5 year warranty and a monitor cleanning kit, which I have never even mention in my phone order. WTF, Dell, WTF!!!! I think this is my last order with Dell.

Call and complain, its a mistake obviously

Tell them this is not what you ordered and you demand what you ordered for the price you paid

I haven't had any issues with Dell. When I ordered my 30" monitor, there was a single dead pixel on it. i called and asked them to ship me another one, they did, AND they gave me a coupon credit of like $200 to use towards future purchases.

Just call them and I'm sure they'll fix it. And don't hesitate to ask for a bit more. I think they have up to $100 on any single item.

Orisky is right, they owe you a $100 credit or coupon for all your trouble. If the rep. won't give it too you call back and find one that will. Don't take this B.S. from Dell. They screw up like this a lot. I have received things from Dell 3 months after I ordered them.

Naturally, before posting here you rang them to say an error had been made. What did they say?

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Posting here or not should NOT have anything to do with how Dell handle thing after the effect. After all, they did screwed up and deserved a nagetive feedback

Now, of couse I called them. I called them immediately after I saw the G2410. In fact, I made the first post while on hold waiting to be transfer around. After 1.5 hours on the phone and talking almost 10 people, the resolution is that I have to send back that G2410 and get a full refund. I have to re-order 2408. However, that 10% coupon is no long good on 2408 now. Dell said that the 10% coupon I used was never intended to be valid for a on-sale item. So if I want 2408 now, I wll have to pay $479 now. Nothing about discount for future purchase was offered to me.

I don't mind paying $479 for 2408, but getting a new monitor or any item is supposed to be a good/exicting experience. Dell made it miserable. Now I have to repackage the G2410, take it to UPS, not to mention that 1.5 hours I spent on the phone.

To be honest there are better monitors than the 2408 anyway. I say return it and look elsewhere. Anywhere but Dell.

The Samsung Syncmaster 2493 hm, Samsung SyncMaster 2443BWX or the Samsung T260. All are in the same price range, excellent quality and best of all no Dell.

I JUST got a 2408. Bought if off a buddy @ work since he got it at discount while buying a whole system.. he didn't need the monitor. It's been great so far; calibrated perfectly with my Pantone Huey...
