I wish they had it now! I'm going out to shoot some waterfalls later this week (weather permitting). Oh well, we can still get some pretty good videos with the camera as is.

I suppose it would be very optimistic to expect a similar firmware update for the consumer models?

This is very cool! Even though I have very little experience with shooting video I have already become somewhat frustrated with the lack of these controls. It's great to see that Canon is coming through for us with this update.

this is probably the 5th same thread I've seen and said the following:

booooring. Fix the audio, Canon! The 3rd party workaround for this is much more expensive and inconvenient than those required for the video. Locking the aperture in place was a breeze before this update showed up... though I'd admit tedious when start/stopping recording frequently.

Locking the aperture disables the IS - which sucks (at least on the 70-200 2.8). Expecting exceptional sound from any video recording device without using an additional mic is expecting too much. Spend $150 on an external mic and you'll do just fine ;)

The big deal about the 5DMKII's video wasn't so you could have great in camera mic audio - it was so you could shoot video at f/1.2. That's the crazy thing everyone was talking about. Like I said, $150 for an external mic really isn't "much more expensive and inconvenient".

Plus, I really don't think there's a firmware update possible that would fix the internal mic. Honestly, they can only make an internal mic so good (and I was surprised with how good the internal mic was besides when you focus or use IS).
