Hi all,
Iam a fairly infrequent visitor to Transportation. I tried search but found nothing. Perhaps I used the wrong terms.

Iam going to Wright-Patterson air museum. I would like to take some pictures of my favorites there.
1. I see on their site they allow flash photography. Which means I can probably get away with f/2.8 zooms, correct?
2. On a FF DSLR, if I wanted to take a prime, what focal length would be best? I was thinking a 24 or 35mm for whole plane shots.
3. Any other advice or tips would be appreciated!

1. If they allow flash you can get away with any lens.

Do they allow a tripod?

Assuming you have a timer on your camera (I know nothing about DSLRs at this point, as my primary is a simple A610 P&S)... Take your monopod, set your timer, and raise that puppy above your head!

Though you might look (and feel) a little silly, you can get some dramatic shots that no one else is gonna have.

Such as:

(Oh, check for overhead obstructions like light fixtures before you do!) Trust me.

Pretty cool... I'm going to have to try that. I have a G5 with an articulated screen that would help for composition.

It's been several years since I was last there but at that time, some parts of the museum were fairly well lit while others were nearly cave-like with very tight almost spotlight lit areas.

Yes, they do allow tripods. They even suggest it!

Here are some of my shots from the museum (external link). The EXIF data is there. If you go during Monday morning, there are very few other people there.
