Nearly there!

I have enough to buy a 40D now im so excited!

My dad isn't happy about me spending all my money on cameras (Lol) so I said if I take 10 good photos of nature for him with my film camera he will let me buy it

/\/\/\ i really favor the 17-50 and to the OP Congrats i just got mine a few weeks ago and dont know what to do with my cameras weather is great but jut busy packing couldnt have came at a worse time

here's a story to pass along to your dad. When I was probably around your age, I spent about $2000 I had saved on a Gibson Les Paul Std and a Marshall 50-watt 212 combo amplifier.

That guitar and amp paid for about half for my college education playing 2-3 weekends a month for the next 5 years. Now, at 48 years old, my guitar and vocal skills pay for family vacations each year and THEN some!

Note to you Josh: Buy the camera. Shoot local stuff. Get your name out there and use your skills to make your gear pay for itself over and over and over again.

We are all delighted that you finally made a purchase. Post something, anything, your big toe if you want to. If I understand you, you have only the 75-300 lens right now. You will be wanting to ad to that soon.

My Dad probably thought the same as yours many years ago. Nonetheless, I got into photography and have enjoyed it tremendously for over thirty years. Of course nowadays, its my wife who questions my purchases! The 40D is a great camera.

My 40D will actually be here tomorrow. I know what this excitement is all about...
