I JUST got my miniTT1 in the mail today. They FINALLY released them in Canada. Yahoo!

I loaded up the PW software and played with Hypersync settings. I disabled High Speed Sync mode, then set the offset to -650, slapped my D-Lite4 onto one of my PW multimax, and put the miniTT1 on my 1Ds mark III.

In my initial tests, I'm getting no curtain showing in the frame right up until 1/800. But then it goes crazy. MINIMAL curtain showing in the frame at 1/1000, and it STAYS that way right up to 1/8000. With a very slight crop, I basically have 1/8000 sync with my D-Lite4.

The speeds are so high that I'm losing light due to the flash duration being longer than the shutter speed.

I'm confused here. Everything I read said that you'd be lucky to get a clean 1/640, and by 1/1000 it's typically unusable. I saw one person here on POTN get up to 1/1000 with a profoto strobe but didn't seem to go much higher than that.

Here is a picture using a miniTT1 shot at 1/8000 on a 1Ds3 with a D-Lite4:

Who else has tested their max sync speeds with their new pocketwizards? I totally was not expecting this kind of sync.

type 1/8000 for a search in that thread.

ok, I've only seen one guy who said he did it with his alien bees... but that's it. And another response saying you flat out could NOT do 1/8000 with studio lights.

What is the official pocketwizard statement on studio lights? I thought it said you could typically get only about 1/500 if you're lucky.
