Just get an 4x4 lee cpl, like i did.
Works a charm on the 17, like the big stopper.

Nice, so I just need to order an extra Tootse 17 hood to massacre? I already have an old Lee 100mm push on holder, currently fitted with 130mm wings. Do I need to order the standard Lee holder? Do i need a specific lens adaptor to help mate the holder and Hood ring?

I'm in the process of making a filter holder for the 17 but, also own the 14-24 too. If you really want a filter holder for Nikon, Lee has the SW150 in production. :)

Julian,

Are you using a similar D.I.Y as the one from Fred Miranda. Buying an extra lens cap and modifying it to fit a 82mm Lee WA adapter ring?

Yep, just get an spare Lenscap, a 82mm Lee Adaptor, and you can use the "normal" Lee Holder for 4x5 and 4x4 Filters. Works with full Tilt and 7mm of shift without vignetting.

Glad to help!:D

Keep this one in mind:

- Got rid of the 82mm thread of the Lee Adaptor Ring

Otherwise you will end up with just 5mm of shift, so it's pretty crucial for the fun factor.;)
The inner part of the ring is almost like Aluminum Foil, it's not hard to get rid of the 82mm Thread, so that you end up with a flat surface on the inner diameter... and the fun of 7mm of Shift.

Is this a case of just filing it down with a fine rasp?

I used a fretsaw... with just a wood dedicated blade in it.:o
So, it's really not that big of a challenge, and I think that a rasp would work just as good as the saw did.

Give it some grinding and matte Black spraypaint to avoid Reflections, after you have assembled the whole thing.

Yup! That's what I'm doing but, I'm planning to dremel the thread ring off the adapter. :)

I simply used a fine tooth hacksaw. :)

Ok here's my progress of DIY filter for the 17 TS-E. If you click the link. It will give you pictures but, the language is in German. Google translator will help clarify things but, the pictures are very straight forward. :)

http://www.linsenschuss.de …s-e-17mm-f4l-filterhalter (external link)

The cap disassembles in three parts. There are 13 screws, one button lever, and one spring. Be careful not to lose that spring. You can reuse it to lock your DIY filter holder on the lens.

You can see here that I've already hacked the inner part of the cap in half. (Top left)The bottom of the cap (with red dot) is the one you will use for your filter holder.

In this image,I've already took the half part of the inner cap and planed it down with a metal file. Trying to plane it flat is where most of the work is. You want it to be level with the bottom part of the cap. (Bottom left)

Here's the bottom cap on my lens. You can see that the inner part of the cap is nice and flat. Also notice that I've sanded the inner cap. It's shiny and I plan to paint it flat black to reduce reflections. In the blog, they used black felt and glued them on. Either one should work.
IMAGE: http://www.darklightimaging.com/img/s3/v41/p226149972-5.jpg

Here's the 82mm adapter sitting on top of the bottom cap. It's only a fit test. When you're ready, you will use epoxy to mend the bottom cap and adapter together.
IMAGE: http://www.darklightimaging.com/img/s3/v38/p450356533-5.jpg

This is what it should look like when it's completed. This is still a fit test too.
IMAGE: http://www.darklightimaging.com/img/s11/v37/p399445719-5.jpg

When I'm done, the filter holder will only have two filter slots. I think that's plenty for a good stack. Anyways, I used a GND to make sure there's clearance. Not a problem!

Nice job Julian. What do they get for the lens cap?
