^^^^Damn, Eddie, you're making me consider spending my Xmas money on the TS-E 24mm rather than a FF camera. (Of course I'd still have buy some talent somewhere, alas.)

Eddie is right, once you've seen this thread, you are doomed. I'm going to pre-congratulate you on your future TS-E 24mm purchase. You should read this too:

"The Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II Tilt-Shift Lens is, optically and physically, the highest quality 24mm Canon-mount lens I've reviewed to date. "

Say no more...

2 more days till mine arrives. My biggest problem is going to be finding time and worthwhile subjects to photograph being stuck in the middle of flat boring central North Carolina. A well corrected photo of my muddy neighborhood pond or my home isn't anything to get excited over haha.

So, I finally got this lens, and I must say that so far it's been fun...That being said, here are a few shots from today on my first outing with this beast.

It's interesting how the effects of the polarizer shift when the lens is moved around.

Thanx floyd--It was quite useful to be able to get up on the rail and then shift the lens out over it to get the angle I wanted without having to stand in traffic lanes.

The obvious: grab a friend and hit up Charlotte, Raleigh, or any beach for exciting visuals. One of these will be a short drive away.

Less obvious: take inspiration from one of my Flickr contacts, an expert in the mundane, many from rural NC: http://www.flickr.com/photos/captainflexible/ (external link)

Raleigh is pretty close. I might be able to get up there soon. Thankfully I have a vacation period during christmas, so I'll be heading to a Ski resort and Ranch in Northern Michigan for a while, pretty excited for that. Shortly afterwards I have a winter backpacking trip planned out to the Smoky Mountains, another great trip coming up.

My wife and I are having our first baby in May, rather inconveniently a time when I won't even be home thanks to work, they might get me home for a 8-hour timeframe for the birth, then right back away again. Anyhow, in short this means I spend almost all my weekend time looking for baby stuff haha. Super exciting in its own way, but without the actual baby, it isn't very photo-friendly.

You want flat and boring, come out to central IL. We do have some spectacular sunsets, though. I could see putting this lens to good use there.

Hmmm, maybe I could sell my Z4.....

Best of luck with the baby/work situation, and finding time to shoot.

I am sympathetic - I lived in Raleigh most of my life until moving here, and when I lived in NC it often felt like there was nothing interesting to photograph. I'm learning from many of my contacts, the surroundings influence the motivation more than the end result.
