I have been debating on this lens. So, my question is, do you think you could have got everything in focus with this shot? I'm guessing this would require a huge amount of tilt so, probably not. But, then again, being a 24mm, stopping down might just get you there. Got a pic with everything sharp?

Edit: just realized it was with a 2x TC so will that reduce the range of effective tilt?
The amount of tilt you need to get the full range in focus depends on the focal length of the lens AND the height of the lens above the horizontal. This set-up was a bit different to normal landscape as the subject was on my kitchen worktop and I had the camera literally a few centimetres above it (on a tripod). An additional complication is that I had the camera/lens (before any tilt) pointing downwards to get the tray of decorations in the viewfinder. I tried using shift but just got too much of the room in the shot.
So taking all that into consideration (and I was effectively using a 48mm lens - the longer the focal length the greater the tilt required), the answer to your questions are, yes, I could get the whole subject in focus (see attached), and no, it didn't require much tilt (maybe 2° because I had the camera tilted downwards). Your last question is harder to answer as you have two times the focal length so to me it just seems different. Maybe someone else will chime in on the technicalities.
The main thing IMHO is to echo what everyone says about the Tilt-Shift lenses - use LiveView and learn from what you see. Also (something I don't do
) is write down what you did with each photo. Unfortunately, the EXIF does not record the amount of Tilt, Shift or if TC used!
