in a few days i'll be going to vietnam for 5 weeks and i'm debating whether or not to bring this on my 5d2 or my zeiss 40mm CF (FLE) on my 501c/m with a digital back and many rolls of 120. it would be silly to bring the same focal length since my bag space is limited.

downsides of the 40 is that i have no CPL or ND since it's a 93mm thread, no tilt/shift, and best to not shoot above 200 ISO or +15 second exposures digitally. but then it feels like a waste to bring all that equipment to just have a 80mm lens.

i'm going to shoot both side by side (which i've never done) and post some results here in a couple days

This one is from back in November but I just got around to messing with it. Back on the road very soon. Picked up a 3500 dollar painting job next week so it will be nice for some camping/gas money!

Everybody has been a bit quiet around these parts!

We've had a spell of cold weather up here and my sister told me she thought the waterfall was frozen over so I went to have a look. I wish I'd brought the 2x converter as I'd have got better detail. Anyway, here is a two shot vertical stitch using Shift with a two stop ND filter. My hands were numb with the cold.

It also sounds like you have no hesitation in using the 2x converter - that's certainly an endorsement that I enjoy hearing. I think I am going to go for it over the 1.4x very soon.
