These pictures with a vertical focal plane may well illustrate what the lens can do, but they're actually putting me off.

I would think that's a fairly unique opinion, but to each his own. Rest assured the lens is as flexible as you need it to be.

Thx bro - can't wait to see some of your contributions, and in the 17L thread too!

Great lens, but unfortunately I realized during my first outing it isn't wide enough. I'm pretty dismayed because I gave a lot of consideration to whether I should buy this one or the 17mm. It looks like I'll be exchanging it for the 17mm.

I had an odd sense that I'd seen some of your better works done closer to the 17 end of things. But you can't back into an ally and see as much with a 24mm.

Hope the exchanges goes pain free for you. ;)

Oh...and not a bad shot you just posted from the 24mm! :D It has your signature on it!

Cheers!

Kevin that's a striking shot, really "in your face" sharp. Seems something a bit odd about the right half that I can't put my finger on?

If you don't use filters much the 17 would be the way to go...I occasionally think maybe I should sell the 17-40 and the 24 for the 17 TS-E, but I do like to use GND filters.

I'm not sure what looks odd. Could it be that the Chicago Board of Trade (at center) has five columns of windows left of center and only three right of center? Unfortunately, there's no way to compensate for that and make it more symmetrical.

As for filters, I do own a GND that I use occasionally with my 17-40. But I'm not so attached to filters that I would forego purchasing the 17 TSE.

That's part of it, I think also the portico with fluted columns at right appears smaller than the one at left that it is facing. Don't get me wrong though, great image, that my eyes have really enjoyed wandering around :D

Getting a 5d MKII in the next week or so.

Going to revamp my lens line up and was looking at 24 and 35 1.4's...

Of course I had to come here..WOW....

I normally shoot in AV mode...Will I need to shoot in M mode with this lens?

Do you find yourself using this as a "normal" lens frequently?

Thanks ....

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

I also tend to use Av mode, but find if I'm tilting this I rely on M mode and live view to get the exposure right. Many use this as a normal lens as it's the sharpest, least CA 24mm around. Just one with added benefits:D

Great lens, but unfortunately I realized during my first outing it isn't wide enough.

Shame to hear, but I still look forward to seeing the results of any TSE you use. Are you not interested in going wider by using shift-and-stitch? It can be a wide lens in the applicable conditions.

In any case, I chose the 24 because I found that I was shooting at 24 more than 17, and this ended up to be a good decision for me. I'm sorry it hasn't worked out that way for you.
