I'd like some tripod suggestions that you guys are using or have used. The one I have now (a Benro) will move when I am tightening the ball head and I have a real hard time keeping things lined up. I'd like to stay under $300 but could be convinced to spend more.

Anyways, here are a few shots from tonight in Boston.

According to my Amazon orders records, I bought this at the beginning of 2016 and I have to say it's been one of my finest purchases. I'd been using terrible tripods for ages but this one is just brilliant. Lucky you, it looks like it's cheaper in America than here in the UK. Results I found bring it in at $199:

It's the SIRUI T-025X: https://www.amazon.com …eld-keywords=SIRUI+T-025X (external link)

Here in Scotland it's windy all year round - and this tripod has been as stable as anything. Can't recommend this enough and hope you find it helpful.

*edit* - I should mention, feel free to look through my Flickr, long exposure is my bread and butter so 95% of everything on my feed from Jan 2016 will have been taken with this tripod.

Drove through Glasgow for work, and for once I had my camera with me and some time to kill.

I'll take a look, thank you. I have a similar head on my tripod but like I said above as soon as I come to the end of tightening it the camera moves slightly. I may order yours off Amazon and just return it if it's what I'm searching for.

Hand held shot after shooting a time-lapse on the other side for sunrise. A little shift was employed.

I tried some tilt. I was shooting through glass battling reflections from the bar. I think I was a little heavy handed with the tilt but I like it anyway.

That's just one of the characteristics of a ball head.

The "sag"

If you really want to get serious about architectural work, you'll want a geared head.

Here's one that's under $300

Showing your age...Standard Oil Building....I had to google it, I remember it being built...the name was changed in 1985 to Amoco building and now my son works in that building, Aon Building. I thought I was the only one who called all the buildings by the old school names, a perk of being old I guess,,,,,great photography of my favorite subject, Chicago...great stuff dude.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".
