Does this mean that the 17mm TS-E, or 24mm TS-E lenses are far better than the 16-35 II ? (Obvious prime vs zoom notwithstanding)

Talking for us mere mortals here. ;)

The 17 and 24 TS are the best at what they do. The 16-35 II is good but, not great for distortion. ;)

From my point of view, I don't like to use 14 mm, because I don't want to deal with distortion in PP. While fixing distortion you, eventually, end up getting almost the same image size, as if you'd take it with TS-E 24.

You would have to crop a lot out to get things right. I don't like to do that. :)

Ahh good to know.

Thanks Julian.

Yes, that was my guess, when you said about 16-35. I also have to add, that after you fix distortion and crop, your picture's IQ will degrade as well, compare to the similar images, if you'd take them with TS-E 17 or 24

I have to agree. You lose a bit of resolution too.

OK people, just gonna share a little tip....

Don't buy this lens if you want to keep using your other lenses too. This lens has ruined me; I see every photographic opportunity in 24mm or not at all. :(

Lol, you need rehab with your other lenses.
Sometimes, I do miss AF with this lens though....::cry:

Using AF confirm is always spot on. Why worry about it? ;)

Yeah, I'm trying to get used to it, but my MF skill isn't fast enough sometimes...

How do you do it with manual focus lens?

Assign the * button for AF. :) I'm sure you have this set up on your camera, right?

I got it now. I've never try it with TSE 24 though. Just checked it out (I use AF-ON for focusing) and it works great. From what I understand, I just have to select one point in order to confirm my manual focus with AF. Thank you, Julian. Its brilliant idea!

Yup! Make sure you have the Beep activated. It helps. :)

This is very helpful feature to focus through viewfinder, because you can do it more efficiently and precise while hand-held your camera. I bought this lens only when I got camera with live-view capability. I love live-view and magnification for focusing, nevertheless, AF confirmation makes it even better.

Nice! I like it!

Thank you! Unfortunately, I've decided to let this lens go. I have found myself using my Zeiss 21 much more than the TS-E and I can't afford to keep both. Really going to miss this lens.
