In the full res image you can see the focal plane running along the length of the bridge. It is a bit harder to see at only 1000px though.

I've been a bit hesitant to use this lens hand-held, but it is very easy to focus with the view finder using focus-alert. So, here are a couple of hand-held shots:

^Nice David. The 17 and 24 TS lenses are realy easy to focus even without a tripod. :) It's great for walk around stuff.
