hey all!

I was hanging around waiting to meet with friends and snagged off a couple shots since they were running late. These were taken @ the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in NYC. This park is gorgeous in spring.

These would be perfect flower shots if they were all in focus; I'm guessing these were hand-held and you had to use the lens wide open

I didn't have to shoot wide open i chose to for the blurry foreground and backround. They are in focus just a very shallow DOF. thanks for you comments though- to each his own right :)

I like the DOF you used and think your play on the light was very creative in making them pop for me

Oops. I think I just meant you should've used a larger depth of field.

But looking at it again I can see that most of these look more interesting with the shallow DOF than if everything, foreground to background, had been tack sharp. The only one that bugs me is the third one down, something about the flower cluster right below the sharp center one seems distracting. I don't know it might just be me.

nice flowers for sure. i would have also chosen a slightly larger DOF. the last shot would have been better if you chose to focus on the foremost flower... IMO

The aperture is there to use creatively. Who says that a perfect flower shot has to be all in-focus?

I like the bottom one the most... :D

thanks guys, I do have to admit that last one would have been better if the foremost flower was in focus. I don't think i realized at the time that it was off as the wind was blowing and moving the darn branches. thanks for the comments :)
