I've been asked to shoot some pictures for a Father's day gift ... There's 3 girls and they want Dad to be in the picture.. i'm in need of a GOOD pose for the 4 of them.. it's going to be done at our beach park tomorrow afternoon late... I've got a lot of large oak trees and and some open space and when the sun get's lower i've got the beach its self... my mind just goes blank.... if amyone knows of a good website where I can get some ideas that would be great..

thanks... wm

lighting:
a few tips: try to get a helper to use a refletor even if its a home made one with a piece of foam core board from a craft store with tinfoil glued on. use that to fill in racoon eyes and give dimension by having one side of the peoples faces slightly brighter than the other side. use the longest lens possible and the most depth of field you can achieve, f/8? maybe.

the pose: try to keep the dominant figures head at the highest point. try to creat a triangular pose so that your eyes are lead to the top of the pose(the dominant persons head).
try to make people in the back lean forward (but not in a strange way) so that every persons head is as close to the same PLANE so deapth of field wont let you have certain people in focus while someone whos head is 9 inches back goes out of focus.

also dress the group as if you were decorating a room have everyones cloths match or at least work well together.

heres a few examples of my teachers photos to hopefulling help you out.

good luck, post your results!

"A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind."
