Some flowers..

Hey guys, well I took these just recently and I want to know how they came out? If you can, help me out and tell me what to do differently next time! Thanks alot..

I am certainly not the flower expert..but the number one issue for me in all of these is the actual flowers. They don't seem to be in the best condition to get a good photo out of.

I also guess they would be better with stronger DOF.. did you do any PP on these? You could do a lot to improve them with that alone. However I would find some different flowers.

Like I said I am NOT the flower expert, just telling you what I personally think.

#1 has some charm: a gritty appeal, a more varied orange->red hue to the petals, better background and DOF. You're angled across the flowers more which invites the eye to move past them and around the shot. All good. On the cons side, there are "half flowers" along left, bottom and right edges though, which can lead the eye out of the frame.

#2 and #3 are too central, and the background is unappealing. Try the "Rule of Thirds" and put important points on core subject matter a third in from an left or right and/or top or bottom.

Someone once told me that if you are photographing flowers make sure there is
no dead flowers/leave in the photo - unless of course, that is what you are looking
to portray. I do like the first shot, that is my favorite, the other 2 I do not care for.
Just my 2 cents.

Great shots but if I may offer a critique. They all seem a but underexposed to me. I like my flower shots bright and these just don't seem to be bright enough.

I agree with the others. The first shot is pretty and cheerful. I love the colors. The second one is just not looking up to par... I mean the flower itself.. and as others have stated, it doesn't do it justice to center it. The third one is like the second. The water drops are just too much and the poor flower looks drowned.

IMHO a bit underexposed... i only like the framing in the first one, also i agree with brennasg and bonito these are not the best looking flowers.

I would have to agree number one is very nice. The other two look a little worse for wear. It's hard to get caught in the moment and forget about the good old rule of thirds. I will have to post my flower shots from today....I think I may have done the same thing LOL Don't feel bad all part of a learning curve.

My advise on the flowers is to try and shoot them from a different angle. To me all your shots seem to be pretty much shooting down at them. Do not be afraid to get down and shoot them on the same level, or have fun and try to shoot them from under them.
