I want to order a Canon EF-S 10-22 from B&H...which shipping method do i use to avoid all the extra fees??? TIA

Also look at buying from Alberta, either www.thecamerastore.com (external link) in Calgary or www.mcbaincamera.com (external link) in edmonton. They don't charge you PST, which can sometimes make buying from them the cheapest option. On the other hand if you buy from the US directly into Ontario you will pay PST.

I think you better rethink that The Camera Store won't charge PST. I had a hell of an argument with them about that. They wanted to charge me PST, but I had someone pick it up personally at the store to avoid it and had the store ship it for $10.00. I do believe it is law that provinces collect PST for one another as a reciprocal agreement they have. If you didn't get dinged, then you're a lucky one. Your mileage may vary . .

I wonder if it's different for provinces that have the HST, since I've never been charged with PST ordering from The Camera Store.

Can't vouch for the accuracy of this site, but it seems accurate and gives good links to provincial publications:

I think Dailow hit the nail on the head regarding HST. For all other provinces I bet it's pretty hard to enforce having Alberta shops collect PST, and in some cases the receiver is responsible for paying after receiving the goods, which I doubt many volunteer to do.

McBains clearly states that they don't add PST to out of province orders, but they don't say anything about HST :), but since they must add GST I would think that they have no choice but to add HST.
