I am not sure if they were compared to the ab before, but if you do a title only search for Genesis you will find few thread comparing those lights to elinchrom d-lites. The main benefit of those lights is that they have elinchrom mount, they are also priced very competitively.

I emailed them not too long ago and they told me they are out of stock but they would put me on backorder and honor the 20% off price.

I replied asking what the ETA would be.

Hey Nick,

Did you decide to go for it and get the kit? I know you'd be really happy with it but I also understand why you wanted to stick with the Speedlight kit.

I'm still undecided b/c the thing that trigger this whole thing is the paid shoot with orchestra instument I'm going to have in about 2 weeks.

The thing is they don't have them in stock, and if I am going to get a kit, I'd really like to use it in that shoot. I'd be driving there so portability won't really be a problem.

Then there's the issue with backdrops. I may be able to borrow a stand from a co-worker, but if a basic one is $100, then what the heck. But a stand is not what I want for home because of space constraints. I wanted to put some kind of hook and rod on the ceiling to save some footprint space.

I am starting to realize that if I go the 580EX II route, I would still have to buy a stand, an umbrella, a flash mount. That would chime in under or around $100 if I get decent ones. Add to that either a long ETTL or PC cord and that may very well put things over $100. But then I still only have 1 flash. So it seems to me that the Genesis 200 2 light kit might be the better investment. Plus if I wanted to go portable, then I can always get the flash mount and use one of the umbrellas...so I get best of both worlds...

I can't believe with all the gear I have, I am spending time wondering about a $300 lighting kit. But I don't want gear collecting dust. Just want to make sure I am going to use it other than the paid shoot coming up.

Oh yea, when we finally decide to have kids, they will be used a bunch. But right now we have 3 cats...that's all.

No popcorn and armchair wars from me like some brand-name ddefenders out there, Rudi ... I'm just jealous as hell I don't have YOUR Elinchrom's in my kit (assuming you have the Manly black-n-grey models as compared to Poofer-Purple housings). Aaaaarrrgh! Don't hate me, purple purchasers.

OMG, I have not slept yet tonight (ok now AM) and I read THAT post....I am laughing so freaking hard I might be up until noon now!! hahahaha...
