5Dmk2 Noise/banding or???

Initially I thought is was just my processing but Iam consistantly seeing these sort of strange artifacts from my 5D2

Your esteemed thought s on this please:

To me it looks like checkered banding. It is feint but it is there - and shouldnt be. never got this with the 5Dmk1!
Is it something odd Im doing in processing? I can't see it in the original but it starts to appear after arelatively small adjustment in this (full size)image you can just see it starting, or you can at least what looks like a lot of noise , to my eye anyway (for 100ISO at only -1 EV
Exposed at EV-1 = f22@1/80 ISO 100

It's 1.0.6 but the 1.0.7 update that only mitigates or resolves when shooting in sRAW1 according to the blurb

I ONLY shoot RAW

I would make the upgrade anyway and try to recreate the problem.

What are your image settings? That looks like JPEG compression artifacting to me.

Saved as High quality jpeg in PsCS4 to post here but I noticed it in the .psd file so it's not jpg artifacts
