My city had a event at the local skate/bmx park this weekend. Lots of kids showing off for each other.

With the amount of people there I was limited to the perimeter of the park, so trying to find a clean background was an issue. I went there thinking I would shoot for a half hour or so and ended up staying for over four hours. The lighting at the end of the event was a major hassle (strong overhead full sun with a bright concrete ground) really limited where I could shot (along with the sunburn for not being prepared for that amount of time in the sun)

Some that I like:

Yes, he was that high:

Yes, he should have a helmet on:

Yes, these little kids were good:

A little older:

And yes, sometimes it is better to be lucky rather than good

All the photos were shot with either a 24-105 or a 70-200 and only processed in lightroom.

hey, nice shots
with the riding photo's, it is generally a good idea to show where the rider is coming from and where he is going, to give a sense of where he is/the significance of what he is doing.
liked the barspin photo on page 5 of your gallery.

Thanks, given that I was limited to the sides of the park only really limited where I could shoot from and along with the busy background headache I was forced to three positions all with tight crops. Typically I like to show either the start or end of a jump / trick, but this time the tight crops were less distracting.

I go right by this park a lot walking my dog and now the kids are acknowledging me so I will probably go back to shoot some more with a little more flexibility in placement and lighting.

Regards
Rick
