Here are a couple of waders i photographed at RSPB minsmere reserve ( England ) last year.

The first is an Avocet.

The second is a Black-Tailed Godwit and an Avocet.

Both were taken with Canon 10D + canon 100-400mm lens.

Your English Avocet has the same shape as the American Avocet, yet the plumage is colored rather differently.
