Hello,

Is the Manfrotto 785 good enough for handling the weight of the 1D Mark II and a 24-70 ? What about 1DII + 70-200/2.8 IS ?.

I imagine there are better options out there, but I don't care about other features (except the ability to handle that weight). I want a simple tripod to make some HDR. For now I'm asking for this specific Manfrotto model because I can get it for cheap.

Probably not as it only supports 2.2 pounds so it won't be too sturdy for what you have. BTW, that model with head sells for $59.95 brand new.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I'd go with something a little sturdier. Why would you want to entrust thousands of dollars of gear to a $50 tripod?
