the EF-S 17-85 that came with my 30D has worked well since I got until recently, it's now gone more or less haywire. I know that it's the lens not my 30D since every other one of my lenses work fine on my 30D.
2 main issues
1.When I use auto focus the lens hunts and when it decides that it is "focused" it is often badly out of focus.
2. Almost always when I use the lens when I try to shoot I get the good old ERR-99 message

anything I can do to to rectify these problems before I fork over the cash and send the lens in to canon to be worked on? thanks in advance
