Well this is how you look like when you fail to guard your goal and get 3 balls in within 5 minutes... And the face of victory seen on the supporters of the opposing team, who have a colorful name for sure... Its a remnant of the old times while our country was still a "red" one .

If the picture is offending i apologize and will remove it asap.

I'll be the dissenter here. The background only detracts from what could have been an excellent image reminiscent of the iconic photo of Y.A. Tittle. The picture should have been about the goalie, not the signs in the background.

Everything about the player suggests that this is an important moment. Everything about the background suggest that this a trivial frat party.

I think it is a great shot, full of emotion. The Y.A. Tittle photo shows a bloodied Tittle on his knees near the goalposts. Very easy to tell he is a beaten football (American) player If the background were to be removed from this photo, we would only see a kneeling soccer player. Where's the emotion in that? The fans in soccer outside the US play such a huge role in the game with their passion. I feel it makes the shot that they are included. You know you wouldn't see those signs hanging in a stadium here in the US!

I always welcome these kinds of opinions and ideas, but in soccer especially on the soil of the ex-Yu clubs supporters play as big of a part as the players themselves. This is a 3rd league club and these games usually have 10 to 50 visitors if lucky and this game was all about the supporters that came from all around the country. There was nothing trivial to the "party" i know first hand that a lot of money and time was spent to bring the banners and the choreography together for their 21st birthday.
And to tell you the truth after being insulted by the goalkeeper as i was the only photog on the game and shooting him fail again and again i had no will to make any photos with him as a subject...

bnorm27 yep  those signs and banners are banned from entering when the games are aired ( never for 3.league )

Two things.

1. I think it is important to know about famous/iconic pictures in the past but you dont always have to emulate them. Any GWC can do that. Seeing a similar moment and adding a new twist to it is where you actually create something new and worthwhile

2. I totally understand where youre coming from Zin, and if I wasnt marrying a Croatian girl in 6 days, I would probably agree. However, knowing the history of Croatia, what theyve been through, and experiencing how they live, it really does work pretty well for this picture.

Oh bitterness... great shot, though! Outstanding performance as character model, though! You've made it feel like a shot of the colosseum... a tiger must enter the frame anytime soon. ;-)a

Pretty perfect composition, too! Congrats.

Awesome picture. As someone mentioned earlier everything in that picture completes the story in one hit, the gutted keeper, the jubilant fans, the passion on the banners.

This shows tribalism in football at it's best without going too far.
