....I'm excited ! I got to use an AB and a softbox and some reflectors a few months ago, so I vowed I would get some studio lighting for myself after that experience. I just ordered an AB B800, a 30x60 sofbox, some stands, etc. I can't wait to get this stuff and play ! I already have a Sekonic L-358 w/radio trigger....so now I need to get a pocket wizard flex tt5 and a mini tt1.
I already have a bunch of reflectors, and some flashes ( Canon speedlight and and old Viv 285 )......so I'm gonna have some fun !

The Cybersyncs work just great for me.

I looked at those. One thing I want to be able to do is wirelessly fire the AB with my Sekonic meter ( L-358 ). The pocket wizards have that compatability. And now, the new PW's have some features and control over the Canon flashes that make them very versatile. They ARE pricey, but they seem pretty well feature packed.

And yeah Dave, I'm looking forward to playing with this set-up. Here is a shot I took the day I got to play around with some of this stuff a few months ago. First time i played with studio lighting.....wow....it​'s so much fun having control over your lighting !

.....okay....followup.​...got my AlienBee 800, 30x60 sofbox, gs1 grid for the 7" reflector and pocket wizards ( flex TT 5 and mini TT 1), stands, etc.
I already had the Sekonic L-358. This is just too much fun ! I set up in my living room and figured I'd play a little bit with 'product shoot' to get my head wrapped around the early stages of this. Attached is one attempt at 'hard lighting' ( honeycomb grid on reflector ) and one of 'soft lighting' ( big sofbox ). In both cases I also had a vivitar 285 down low camera left with a tight snoot on it, dialed down to get about a 3:1 ratio.
