Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Autofocus Lens vs Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Autofocus Lens for Select Digital SLR Cameras. Steel Mount...

Seems as though I may have made a mistake in lens purchase are these two lenses different from one another?

Canon only makes one 17-85mm lens. Just the description is different there.

There's only one Canon 17-85. The steel mount would make it different to some other lenses (such as the 50mm f/1.8) which have a plastic mount.

It appears that both vendors are stretching the truth anyway. 17mm is NOT a "super-wide" focal length on an APS-C camera (the only camera format that Canon EF-S lenses will fit on).

Thanks for the replies. The price difference as listed by the same vendor is about $150, with the higher price being more in line with what all other vendors have this lense for. Anyway, tried to contact the vendor and haven't gotten a reply.

What's the vendor? There are a lot of vendors out there who do nothing but suck the money out of your pocket and leave you out in the cold. This one sounds a bit fishy.
