Been thinking about getting one of the Focus' and then thought, for now, it would be nice to have one of these before I get a regular tripod.

My question is, would it be weird having a Really Right Stuff BH-40LR on one of these things? A bit overkill, I know, but I could buy the BH-40LR that I was planning on buying for my tripod, and just use it on this Gorillapod until I get a regular tripod.

I have a 50D and a 24-105L lens right now, but plan on getting a 70-200L f/2.8 at some point.

My other option, would be just to buy it's own ball head, such as the BH-25LR.

What do you guys think?

Ok, I have to admit that it sounds a bit strange. :D

Raising the center of gravity with the ballhead would also make me question how stable it would be.

Lol, it does, doesn't it? I just meant the particular choice in ball head. There are people using them, in fact, I think they recommend using one, in several threads. I believe that is why the SLR and focus models do not have the same few sections under the camera mount, like the point and shoot models do, because the expect that people will be using them with heads.

Oh, well, just decided to get a regular tripod instead. I figure for the stuff I'll be doing locally, the regular tripod is more useful. When I plan on taking a trip, and will not be able to drive, I will look into getting the Gorillapod then, as a 26" long tripod is going to be hard to take with me on a flight.
