Ack, my Brother and my BIL have both been made redundant. Both have recently had a kid too. How sad, yet bizarre that things happen in pairs! Yet half a world away from one-another
Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Harm!

LOL!! Hill Street Blues was a great song too. I think I can still play it on the piano from memory. I'll have to go see now

What do you do? Having a wander through the new posts I found myself in some of the "Gear" forums. I know it's not a safe place to play but hey I survived the mad muggers of Barcelona.
What do you do when you read a post that is either complete nonsense or just plain ridiculous.
One "super knowledgeable" guy is offering advice on how to use a 100-400 by saying "My settings with that lens is usually F8, ISO400, AV mode." I really want to point out that most people change their camera settings to match the scene, light and conditions, he must have incredible patience to wait for the conditions to match his settings.
Oh heck I am going to give up!
lol, there are some peoples opinion is worth about the paper it is written on. Yours, Neil, on the other hand comes form experience and is worth gold.

I was deliberately non specific about what I was going to give up, I have free reign from giving up the thought that there is any hope for the world, to
giving up any hope that Teresa will give in and go and make a cup of tea in the next 10 minutes.

What I really have given up on is the thought that there can be any element of compromise in some of these gear wars threads.

That's a vain hope if experience is anything to go by
